Press Release - New York

Breast Cancer takes a toll on the body, mind and spirit.   Two professional women in the upstate New York area, one of them a PYT student and the other a recent PYT graduate, have teamed up to secure funding and help teach breast cancer survivors the benefit of Yoga.

Thanks to a special grant from the Susan G Komen Foundation, written by Karen Cartwright from the Guthrie Breast Health Outreach,  a free YOGA class is available every Tuesday night at 6:15 at September Place (on the 2nd floor) in Burdett.

Eleanor Liebson professionally designed the program using her experience as a Professional Yoga Therapist, and Occupational Therapist at Schuyler Hospital.   Modified poses with emphasis on breathing techniques and relaxation is the basis for each session, which Eleanor further modifies based on the age and current strength of each attendee.

Survivors of all ages are welcome. Please call 607-592-5493 or drop in.
