PROFESSIONAL YOGA THERAPY STUDENT, SHELLY PROSKO, LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE TO PROMOTE PHYSIO-YOGA THERAPY PRACTICE

Upon completing her Therapeutic Medical Yoga training with the School of Professional Yoga Therapy Studies, Shelly Prosko’s mission has been to inspire, educate, and empower people to take an active approach to rehabilitation and health maintenance.

Shelly created Prosko Physio-Yoga Therapy as a way to offer her unique set of services to her clients. She has recently launched a new website, www.physio-yogatherapy.com, in order to promote her private practice and to educate current and potential clients on the benefits of physio-yoga therapy.

Prosko Physio-Yoga Therapy delivers a holistic approach to healing, while promoting a balanced lifestyle with a focus on self empowerment and self healing. In addition to the private therapy options provided to clients through Sun City Physiotherapy (www.suncityphysiotherapy.com), Shelly offers Physio Yoga-Therapy classes at A Place for Yoga and Health targeted towards treating specific conditions.

Shelly is committed to providing a unique and integrated approach to addressing health care needs by combining her knowledge and skills as a Physiotherapist with her Therapeutic Medical Yoga training.

Shelly’s private practice and specialized classes are located in Lake Country, B.C. in the heart of the Okanagan Valley (http://www.tourismkelowna.com/). The scenic beauty of the area has inspired Shelly to incorporate natural features into her personal and professional practice. Throughout the summer Shelly offers weekly classes, “Yoga by the Lake”, to integrate yoga practice with an appreciation of the environment.

Shelly is a Registered Physiotherapist, Yoga Therapist and a Certified Pilates Instructor. She received her Physiotherapy degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 1998, her Therapeutic Medical Yoga training through Professional Yoga Therapy Studies in North Carolina (www.professionalyogatherapy.org) and her Pilates certification through Professional Health and Fitness Institute in Maryland (www.prohealthandfitness.com).

She has worked in private clinics and long term care facilities across Canada and the United States. Shelly was the physiotherapist and clinic manager at The Morris Center for Sports Medicine in Watkinsville, Georgia for 7 years. In 2006, she relocated to Alberta and continued to work in the private clinic setting and was actively involved in the occupational rehabilitation programs at CBI Health.

In 2009, Shelly settled in the Okanagan and continues to follow her passions at Sun City Physiotherapy. She believes that bridging the gap between Western and Eastern healthcare philosophies is essential in order to achieve optimal health. Consequently, her treatments are individually based and are a unique blend of both approaches.
